The Mandara Spa Experience

Mandara Spa® is the official spa operator across the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. Offering a massive array of therapies, salon treatments, and body wraps, the crown jewel of the Mandara Spa is the Thermal Suite. The Thermal Suite is a dedicated relaxation zone requiring a special pass, providing an oasis of quiet, rejuvenating thermal therapies at sea.

The Thermal Suite Amenities

While layouts differ slightly by ship class, a standard NCL Thermal Suite includes:

  • Thermal Pools: Large hydrotherapy pools with high-pressure massage jets, bubble seats, and warm salt water.
  • Heated Ceramic Loungers: Ergonomically curved tile loungers heated from within. These are situated facing floor-to-ceiling windows for ocean viewing.
  • Steam Rooms & Saunas: Multiple heat levels including dry heat saunas, herbal steam rooms, and sanariums.
  • Salt Room: A specialized halotherapy room lined with Himalayan salt blocks. Inhaling the micro-salt air promotes respiratory health.
  • Snow Room: Available on newer ships (Breakaway Plus and Prima classes). An insulated chamber filled with real snow (around 14°F) designed to stimulate blood circulation when stepped into immediately after hot saunas.

Thermal Pass Pricing

NCL sells passes to the Thermal Suite for the entire duration of the cruise. Daily passes are rarely offered unless the cruise has slow port days.

Ship Class Avg. Pass Price (7-Nights) Notes
Jewel & Dawn Class $149 - $199 Smaller suite footprint, standard hot tub, sauna, and steam room.
Breakaway Class $199 - $249 Adds salt rooms, large hydro pool, and loungers.
Breakaway Plus Class $249 - $299 Includes salt room, snow room, and double-level layouts on select ships.

How to Buy passes

Thermal passes are **limited in capacity** to prevent overcrowding. It is highly recommended to purchase them online via the "My NCL" portal as soon as booking opens. If they sell out online, NCL reserves a small batch of passes to sell on embarkation day—go directly to the Spa desk on Deck 12/15/16 as soon as you board the ship to secure one.
